Marjorie Bligh, legend of Tasmanian home cooking and author of a much-published, much-loved books on her winning recipes and hints.
In Marjorie’s own words, at the age of 87: “The
first time I entered a cooking competition I entered a pound of butter
and I won a first prize ticket and 2/6d. Later, I entered up to 150 items
in the Campbell Town show and won a 100 prizes or more each time. People
got jealous and tried all sorts of stunts to step me from entering again.
I felt sorry for those sad souls. Life is a ball if you have a sense of
humour. So I decided to write my book and not enter any more shows. I’ve
just published my ninth book.”
