George Arnold established his bakery business in 1854 at 110 Liverpool Street, and it became one of the leading Hobart bakeries. In the 1870s a new biscuit works was built, the most up-to-date of its kind in the Commonwealth. By 1932, over 130 biscuit varieties were produced including “Tassie creams” with a “shape” of Tasmania on top (see far north west corner of map).
