Historic vessel to return to Tasmania
The owner of a historic Tasmanian sailing boat says it is returning to the state. A tourist operator from New South Wales, Alan Draper, found out the boat he bought years ago is in fact a Tasmanian Ketch called the Lenna.
Lenna was built at Port Cygnet in 1903 by the Wilson Family
Mr Draper is raising the boat, which was sunk by vandals recently, and wants to give it away so it can be restored.
He says despite a lack of support initially, he is getting calls from all sorts of people from transport companies to local council members.
“And ordinary Joe Blows, you know,” he said.
“It’s been right across the board.
“It’s been a really good cross-section of the Tasmanian community that has responded to it.”
